Machina are part-biological, part-machine creatures of various species. Machina are controlled by Machina Control Chips, which also allows certain species to self-resurrect. Looting this chip prevents them from doing so. Machina are programmed to fight alongside their makers, but have been known to rebel, either due to a malfunction or a remnant of consciousness.
